ChatSan has three member roles: owner, admin, and staff. The role sets what a teammate can do across the organization, and a separate per-creator setting controls which creators each teammate can see. You manage both from Members in the sidebar.

How roles work

Each member has one role. The role decides organization-wide actions like billing, inviting teammates, and editing creators.

  • Owner can do everything, including billing and plan purchases. There is one owner per organization, set when the organization is created.
  • Admin can do everything the owner can except view billing and purchase plans. Use this for managers who run the team but don't handle payment.
  • Staff is view-only. A staff member can see members and the creators assigned to them, but cannot invite, edit, remove, or change anything.

Note: The owner role cannot be changed or removed. When you invite a teammate or edit a member, the only roles you can assign are Staff and Admin.

Permission matrix

This table lists what each role can do. Admin matches owner on everything except billing.

Good to know: Only the owner and admins can invite members or change a teammate's role. Staff cannot remove themselves or anyone else.

Per-creator access

Creator access is scoped per member, separate from the role. It controls which creators a teammate can open and work in.

  • Owners and admins can access every creator in the organization automatically. You don't assign creators to them.
  • Staff can only access the creators assigned to them. A staff member with no assigned creators sees none.

You set this when you invite a teammate (the Assign creator field) and can change it later by editing the member (the Assign model field). Assign as many creators as the teammate needs to cover.

Example: A chatter who only works one creator's Telegram inbox should be Staff with that one creator assigned. They won't see the rest of your roster.

Manage roles and access

You change a member's role and assigned creators from the same edit screen.

  1. Go to Members in the sidebar.
  2. Find the member in the Members tab and open the edit action.
  3. Set the Role to Staff or Admin.
  4. Add or remove creators under Assign model.
  5. Save.

A role change takes effect on the member's next requests; they don't need to be re-invited.
